The problem with the iPhone Calendar app

Starting from the Home screen, how many taps/screens does it take to set a basic reminder on the iPhone to do anything?

More than 10. TEN?! (including the tapping of ‘Done’ buttons, but not including text entry – see below for screen captures). Plus, a little flick at the end to actually see the reminder I’d created.

A reminder app in particular should be doing everything possible to stay out of the user’s way, but the iPhone Calendar app doesn’t.

By contrast, the Calendar app on the iPad looks awesome. After I have an iPad, I’ll do a review of the Calendar app to (hopefully) show how it’s significantly better.

(and fingers crossed Apple improves the iPhone Calendar app in OS 4.0)
